Kareedouw, is situated between the Tsitsikamma and Zuuranys mountains. The town's name derives from the Khoe phrase meaning 'path by the karee trees'. The late former Prime Minister of South Africa from 1966 to 1978, John Vorster, is buried in the memorial garden next to the Dutch Reformed Church, which is made out of stone. This strategic situated town is 8 km from the N2, one hours drive from Plettenberg Bay, half an hours drive from Jeffreys Bay the gateway to the Langkloof on Route 62 and the south entry through the Wilderness area to the Baviaanskloof. The economy of Kareedouw is based on farming and forestry.
